`Paintball is a sport in which players use compressed air guns, also known as markers, are used to shoot paintballs at their opponents. Similar to the game of tag, players that are hit with the balls are eliminated from the game. It can be played outdoors and indoors both. The game requires its own special equipment and there is even a slang that has been developed for the game. Paintball equipment can includes various types of items such as markers, as mentioned above, propellants, masks, hoppers/loaders and other accessories. The propellants are either carbon dioxide or high-pressure air to thrust the paintball into the air. The masks are used for protection and they cover a person`s face. Also there is a certain velocity limited that cannot be exceeded by the players. This is because firing these paintballs above a certain velocity can be dangerous for the participants. Therefore, players cannot fire paintballs that are more than the prescribed velocity. Players are also required to use some barrel blocking devices when they are not playing or when their equipment is idle. This is to catch any paintballs that are fired accidentally without the player knowing. A paintball also has many variations, such as games like woodsball and speedball.
